Description

The OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8, inspired by the six historic lunar landings, celebrates the brand’s space legacy. This 44.25 mm black ceramic model stands out for its laser-ablated darkened movement, representing the lunar surface — the visible side is shown through the skeletonised dial, and the hidden side through the case back.

The watch features a black rubber strap with a yellow interior, varnished yellow hands, a bezel with a laser-engraved tachymeter scale, and a subdial hand shaped like the Saturn V rocket, made in Grade 5 titanium.

Inside, the OMEGA Co-Axial Master Chronometer 3869 calibre ensures exceptional precision and performance. Engravings on the case back include: “APOLLO 8, DEC 1968”, “DARK SIDE OF THE MOON”, “WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE” and “CO-AXIAL MASTER CHRONOMETER”.

DARK SIDE OF THE MOON APOLLO 8

OMEGA travelled around the
Moon to capture the stunning view of this Speedmaster watch. Having been
present at all six lunar landings in history, this legendary model is a true
icon of space exploration and OMEGA’s pioneering spirit.

A TRIBUTE TO THE MISSION

In 1968, the Apollo 8 crew
became the first humans to see the far side of the Moon. In tribute, OMEGA
created this bold ceramic chronograph with a skeletonised dial, a Saturn V
rocket hand, and a decorated movement representing the lunar surface.

THE MOON ON YOUR WRIST

  • On the dial side, a lighter tone with a crater-filled landscape represents the view of Earth over the surface of the Moon.

  • The caseback reveals the far side of the Moon, which only astronauts are able to see.

MOVEMENT

Calibre OMEGA 3869

Manual-winding chronograph movement with Co-Axial escapement. Certified as a Master Chronometer and approved by METAS, it is resistant to magnetic fields up to 15,000 gauss. Textured and darkened lunar relief on the main plate and bridges, with greater lunar detail compared to the previous Calibre 1869, thanks to precise laser engraving and contrasting surfaces.

“The Apollo 8 crewwore an OMEGA Speedmaster during their mission.”
